LiftWork — Support & Privacy
LiftWork is a workout log. It runs on your phone and keeps your training history there. There is no account, no sign-up, and no server that belongs to us holding your data.

The policy below describes exactly what the app stores, what leaves your device, and who receives it.
What LiftWork stores on your device
Everything you record stays in a database on your phone:
- Workouts and the exercises in them
- Sets: weight, repetitions, duration, and when you did them
- Rest times
- Body weight entries, if you choose to record them
- Per-exercise preferences, such as whether you enter weight per side and the weight of the bar you use
- Whether you have purchased the paid unlock
None of this is transmitted to us. We cannot see it, and we have no way to recover it for you.
Deleting the app deletes all of it from the device, and that is the only deletion request you would ever need to make of us — we never had a copy.
One thing to know: iOS and Android back up app data as part of their normal device backup, so your training history may also sit in your own iCloud or Google Drive backup. That copy belongs to your Apple or Google account, not to us: it is encrypted, we cannot see it or reach it, and you control it from your device's backup settings. It is also what restores your history when you set up a new phone.
What leaves your device
Three things, and nothing else.
1. Advertising — free version only
The free version shows a banner and, after you finish a workout, a full-screen ad. Ads are served by Google AdMob.
LiftWork requests non-personalised ads. Your advertising identifier is not used to build an advertising profile of you, and the app never shows the iOS App Tracking Transparency prompt, because it does not track you across apps or websites.
Non-personalised does not mean nothing is collected. To serve an ad at all, Google receives:
- Your IP address, which gives an approximate location (typically city level)
- Device information, such as model and operating system version
- Identifiers used to limit how often you see the same ad and to detect fraud
- Whether an ad was shown, viewed, or tapped
Google processes this as an independent controller of that data. What it does with it is governed by Google's own policies:

The paid version requests no ads at all. When the unlock is active, the ad software is never asked for an ad, and none of the above is sent.
2. Purchases
The one-time unlock is sold through the Apple App Store (or Google Play on Android). The store handles the entire transaction.
LiftWork never sees and never receives your name, payment card, billing address, or account details. It receives one thing back from the store: whether this Apple ID has purchased the unlock. That answer is stored on your device so the app works without a network connection.

3. Backups you create yourself
Settings has an Export history button. It writes a JSON file containing your training data and hands it to your phone's share sheet.
Where that file goes is entirely your choice — iCloud Drive, email, a messaging app, or nowhere. LiftWork does not upload it, and we never receive it. Treat the file the way you would treat any file containing your own information.
What LiftWork does not do
- No account, no e-mail address, no password
- No analytics, telemetry, or usage-measurement software
- No crash reporting
- No access to location, contacts, photos, the camera, the microphone, or health and fitness data held by the operating system
- No advertising identifier used for cross-app tracking
- No sale or sharing of personal information, under any definition, including the meanings those terms have under California law
- No profiling and no automated decision-making
Exercise photos are stored inside the app itself. Opening the exercise catalogue makes no network request, which is why it works in a basement gym with no signal.
Notifications
If you allow them, LiftWork schedules a local notification for the end of a rest period, and shows a Live Activity on the lock screen during rest. Both are produced by your phone. Nothing is sent to a server and no push service is involved.
Permission is requested the first time you take a rest, not when you first open the app.
Children
LiftWork is not directed at children and is not designed for them. It is rated for general audiences as a fitness tool. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and — as described above — the app collects no personal information for us at any age.
Your rights
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, or delete on request.
- To delete your data: delete the app. Everything goes with it.
- To keep your data: export it from Settings before deleting.
- Regarding advertising data held by Google: use Google's own controls at https://myadcenter.google.com and the resources in Google's privacy policy linked above.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or a jurisdiction with comparable law, the legal basis for showing ads in the free version is our legitimate interest in funding a free app, along with any consent you give through the consent prompt where one is presented. You can remove advertising entirely by purchasing the unlock.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts doing something this document does not describe, this document changes first. The effective date at the top shows when it last did.
Support
I lost my phone / I am changing devices. What happens to my history?
Usually it comes back on its own. LiftWork's data is included in your normal iPhone or Android backup, so restoring a new phone from that backup restores your training history with it.
That backup belongs to your Apple or Google account — we have no copy and cannot recover anything for you. So if device backup is switched off, or you are moving between iPhone and Android, export first: Settings → Export history, keep the file, and use Settings → Restore from a file on the new phone.
I paid, and the Progress tab is still locked
Open Settings → Unlock everything → Restore purchase. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID that made the purchase.
The purchase is tied to your Apple ID, not to the device, so it works on any phone you sign into.
I bought it on one phone. Do I have to buy it again on another?
No. It is a one-time purchase tied to your Apple ID. Use Restore purchase on the new device.
The rest timer stops when I leave the app
It should not. The timer works from a target time rather than counting down, so it stays correct when the phone sleeps.
If you are not getting the alert when the screen is off, check that notifications are allowed for LiftWork in the iOS Settings app. LiftWork asks for permission the first time you take a rest, so if you declined it then, it will not ask again.
The exercise photos do not load
They should always load — all 1,746 photos are inside the app and need no connection. If one is missing, tell us which exercise.
Can I use it without a connection?
Yes. Logging, the exercise catalogue, photos, history and the rest timer all work offline. Only ads need a connection, and the paid version does not use one at all.
How do I delete my data?
Delete the app. Everything goes with it, and there is nothing held anywhere else.

Write to us at the address below. Include your iPhone model and iOS version if you are reporting a problem — it usually saves a round trip.
